Wood Office Desk
Welcome to WoodOfficeDesk.org. Here you will find information on that wooden desk you've been looking for. You'll also find information on what to look for when shopping for a wood office desk, as well as, what kind is best for your office layout.
Here are a few essential issues you should consider when shopping for wood desks:
- Make sure it has a large spacious surface area sufficient to house a normal sized computer tower and monitor. Of course if you use a laptop or flat screen monitor this is less of a concern.
- Make sure you determine where the best place in your office for the desk is and consider what shape of desk will best work for that particular space. Will you be positioning your desk in the corner of the room, or in the middle?
- Will the desk integrate with a file cabinet, or will your file cabinet be a separate piece of furniture?
- Do you need a keyboard drawer, or do you primarily use a laptop with a built in keyboard? I actually use a keyboard drawer even with a laptop for proper ergonomics, but this again is a decision you should consider
- Do you need drawers for storing office equipment such as pens pencils, files, folders etc?
- Are you more interested in a solid wood computer desk, or will veneer suit your needs? Solid wood is typically longer lasting and better quality, however, it will be more expensive and harder to handle when purchased or moved due to weight. Veneer is much lighter and easier to handle, but not as durable or have the quality of solid wood desks.
- Is the desk and material it's made with scratch resistant?
- Does the desk you choose require a significant amount of assembly work, or is it partially assembled? It's good to find out if the manufacturer or distributor you purchase from offers installation, or if they only ship it and make you assemble.
As you can see there is much to consider when purchasing an office desk. Above all, we suggest making sure the desk you choose works well with your existing office decor, is made of quality material (whether solid wood or veneer), and looks like it will be long lasting.
Beyond that, we suggest also making sure the finish of the wood looks nice and thick with several coats. This ensures a long life and sufficient scratch resistance.
